All about: My Hair
Hey guys!
As requested, this post will be covering EVERYTHING about my hair. Hope you enjoy!
Dye
Most of you probably know I have dyed my hair for years to maintain my blonde hair. I am naturally blonde, but over time my hair got much darker, but it still stays on the ashier side - which makes the dye-ing process much easier. Because my hair has changed over the years, I have been strictly doing highlights (focused on face framing) and leaving my natural roots untouched (but still toned). I used to alternate between highlights and root touch up each appointment but realized it wasnβt worth it because of how frequently I needed to go to the salon $$$$$. Now, I tell my hairstylist to do VERY thin highlights all over my head but focusing on framing my face (money pieces!!) and leaving my natural root. The back of my hair is highlighted more naturally and further from the root, that way as it grows out it looks more like balayage & not harsh overgrown highlights. I have seen almost ALL the different techniques for highlights, but so far the teasing technique is by far my favorite (teasing the sections in between highlighted sections) because it leaves a blurred effect at the base of the highlight.

Washing
I have started to minimize my hair washing to 2-3 times a week maximum. This has really helped my hair with dryness and oil production because I am using less products as well as less heat application. To keep up with my blonde platinum highlights I like to incorporate purple shampoos at least once every 2 weeks. When using my purple shampoo, I use my regular shampoo first, rinse, then use purple on second shampoo. My favorite purple shampoo at the moment is Bed Heads Dumb blonde shampoo, I know its not the best for my hairβ¦ but 1. thatβs why I use it twice a month 2. it gets the platinum job done. After shampooing twice I put conditioner and always leave it in for at least 5 minutes. I have been looking into good hair masks I can incorporate into my routine as well, but for now I leave my conditioner in instead. This could be all in my head, but I think doing this is like a mini hair mask. For my regular shampoo and conditioner I like to alternate between Moroccan oil and Native - to incorporate more natural products into my hair routine. (Another brand I used to use religiously is Briogeo) I have to add that I am SO impressed with the Native brand overall. I have been using their shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and deodorant and I am obsessed. Aside from the fact that they are very affordable, clean, & available at target, my favorite aspect of their products is their label! Native lists all of their ingredients (Only 10) very clearly on the label with an explanation (in words we actually understand) of each ingredient and why its there. I am on a journey to slowly switch over to more natural skin and hair care in general and I am looking forward to sharing more products and brands like these with you all!
I will link all the shampoos and conditioners I have in rotation below.
Treatments/Oils
I like letting my hair air dry as often as possible to avoid applying too much heat and damaging my hair. Because of this, my conditioning treatments (leaving conditioner in my hair for 5 minutes lol) and finishing oils are crucial for smooth hair and no frizz, especially when its humid. Once a month I will apply a castor oil treatment with a Thermascalp spray and I leave that in my hair overnight or for 4-5 hours before washing. This treatment is great to promote hair growth, hydration, and even repair the hair/scalp. On washing days before brushing my hair, I apply my Gisou honey infused hair oil only on the ends of my hair (when its damp) to help control frizz as it air dries, while also helping me untangle my hair without causing too much breakage. My go to hair oil for years was always Moroccan oil because I canβt get enough of the smell, and it really works. However, now that I tried Gisou nothing compares to this hair oil. Definitely on the pricier side, but so worth it.
Styling
Letting my hair air dry is usually part of my styling routine. Before applying any heat I always spray on my Gisou heat protectant or briogeo hair primer to protect my hair from damage. Lately I have been either blowdrying my hair straight instead of using a harsh flat iron or creating soft waves with a 1 1/4 inch curling iron. Another trend I have been loving lately has been my new hair waver. I love this product because it gives such a perfect bouncy wave an seconds. (its LITERALLY a quick stamp) After styling I finish off the look with another drop of hair oil and light hair spray if I wave or curl.
