Boat Day Necessities

Summer approaching only means one thing…

BOAT DAYS

Here are Nikki’s Boat Day Necessities

Sunscreen:

DUH. I put this one first because it’s the most important item for me to bring on a long day of being out in the sun.

For my face, I have been loving the dermalogica invisible physical defense sunblock - it doesn’t feel sticky, absorbs into the skin quickly, and ACTUALLY smells good. If I have some blemishes I feel like covering, I use my bare minerals original powder (has spf) over the sunscreen.

For my body, I use anything with spf 50+ as soon as I get in the sun, then will re-apply using tanning lotions with spf 15-30 throughout the day.

Sunglasses:

Because I have lost or damaged so many glasses on boats/beaches, I always recommend taking your more affordable glasses that you don’t mind getting wet, damaged, or potentially lost at sea. Linking some of my amazon favorites here.

Waterproof jewelry:

Since I literally never take off my jewelry, almost all of my jewelry is waterproof. Some people might think that means you need to buy only real gold or gold plated (expensive) jewelry, but NOPE. My advice is to read reviews and do your research to find brands that don’t tarnish. Amazon has tons of affordable options you just need to choose something with a lot of reviews or search what you’re looking for + “no tarnish”. A jewelry brand I have been loving at the moment is APM Monacco. APM is one of my favorite reliable and SUPER CUTE jewelry shops on the pricier side, but not overpriced either.

Cover up:

Bathing suit cover up outfits are my favorite to style and I find them to be the easiest to style too. Anything linen & crochet would be my top choices cover ups, but sheer/flowy fabrics are great too. Oversized shirts and rompers are another great option to throw over a bikini.

I also always pack a sarong to wear around the boat (AND as a head scarf!!). No particular reason I just think they’re always stylish.

Set:

After a long day of salt water and sun, I always want to throw on sweats after drying off. Depending on the time of the year, I will alternate between short and long sweat sets for the ride back home (depending on how hot it is). Taking a set is an easy & put together post boat day look I love.

Hat:

Sunscreen is essential, but I still try to get as little sun on my face as possible. Depending on the vibe of my outfit, I will always throw on a baseball cap, cowboy hat, visor or wide brim hat.

p.s. don’t forget to take it off or hold tight when the boat is moving fast

Cup:

Cold drinks are ESSENTIAL on the boat, so I definitely recommend a big insulated cup to serve your skinny margarita in. I love to decorate them with stickers or monograms to make it unique and personal.
